IDM Redbull Ring Wildcard 2022

🇬🇧 Last weekend we organized a wildcard in the IDM to prepare ourselves perfectly for the rest of the world championship season. The race weekend took place at the Redbull Ring, where I had good experiences from last year.

Free practice sessions: The two free practice sessions were great, we rode the same variant that motogp had already ridden. So the chicane was new to me. We were able to get a perfect benefit from the training and finished P1 at the end of the day.

Qualifying: The first qualifying took place very early in the morning, I was only concentrating on doing 3-4 clean laps and then going straight into the second qualifying. This worked more than perfectly and I was able to secure pole position and the 600cc „all-time lap record“ with a lead of 0.4 seconds.

Race 1: I started the race from pole position, my start was ok and I entered the first corner as second. I was able to take the lead right into turn 4 and immediately pull away from the field. It was very positive that I was able to improve my first sector, lap by lap. I rode consistent qualifying times which made it possible to win the race by 7 seconds. A perfect race in which I was able to fine-tune my line a little every lap and collect important data.

Race 2: My start was okay but unfortunately I still lost two places in the first corner. My tactics were different this time and I decided to stay in P3 and only increase my pace from the middle of the race. Unfortunately, there was a red flag and the race was stopped due to a crash. The restart was only scheduled for 6 laps, during which I logically had to start from third position. I came out of the first corner in third again, but the tactics were very different. Full attack and create a gap as quickly as possible. Right on lap 2 I was able to take the lead. The race was very short and I pushed every lap and won the second race again!! 💪🏼

For me it was a perfect weekend. It was my birthday today and I gave myself two great presents. It was very important to come out of the summer break well because I had to struggle with my injuries a lot more than I thought. The training in the five weeks was perfect and I’m really looking forward to the rest of the season!! Many thanks to all supporters and my private crew who made this mission possible 😊
