🇩🇪 Vom 13. bis 15. Januar fand unser erster Team Test in Cartagena statt. Das Team hat einen sehr guten Test organisiert bei dem ich viele freie Runden hatte, es waren ebenso einige Motogp Fahrer vor Ort.

An dem ersten Tag hatten wir sehr kalte Bedingungen. Wir entschieden uns ein wenig auf die Sonne zu warten. Bei 9 Grad Asphalt Temperatur haben wir unseren Tag gestartet. Anfangs hatten wir kleine technische Probleme an der Elektronik bei denen ich nach der ersten Runde stoppen musste. Das Team hat den Fehler aber schnell gefunden und wir konnten mit unserem Testplan loslegen. Ich hatte aber große Probleme mit dem Grip, speziell hinten. Es war einfach zu kalt um irgendwie Grip zu generieren. Wir hatten leider so schnell keine perfekte Lösung parat und mussten den Tag beenden, weil es sehr schnell dunkel wurde.

Am zweiten Testtag hatten wir einige Federbeine und Settings probiert. Wir haben eine gute Lösung für unser Problem gefunden und ich konnte deutlich schneller fahren. Der Teamchef Vesa hat in jeder Session auf dem Serviceweg verbracht und genau verfolgt was ich auf der Strecke mache. Nach jedem Turn habe ich ein Paar Tipps bekommen um mich selbst zu verbessern. Ich habe stark an meiner Linie und an meinem Fahrstil gearbeitet. Es war jedoch sehr hart ihn glücklich zu machen, obwohl er nur das beste aus jeder Situation schöpfen wollte. Aber das ist genau was ich brauche um besser zu werden, jemanden der kritisch mit mir ist und trotzdem viel Motivation und know-how mit sich bringt. Mein Crewchief Antti arbeitet genauso wie ich es mir vorstelle, er ist enorm motiviert und immer offen für alles, er bringt auch etwas Spaß in die Arbeit, was für mich sehr wichtig ist denn oft bin ich ein wenig zu hart zu mir selbst und zu kritisch. Die Mechaniker haben einen absolut guten Job gemacht, trotz vielen Änderungen auf kurze Zeit passierte kein einziger Fehler, beide kommen miteinander sehr gut aus und sind enorm motiviert. Wir hatten am selben Tag noch eine neue Kupplung und ein neues Setting dafür getestet, welches mir sehr gut gefallen hat. Die Motorbremse wurde immer besser und ich konnte Runde für Runde später bremsen und verlor trotzdem nicht stark an Grip. Am Ende des zweiten Tages starteten wir noch eine finale Zeitenjagt und mir war es möglich meine jemals schnellste Runde in Cartagena aufzustellen, trotz des schlechten Grip und der enorm kalten Temperaturen.

Normalerweise hätten wir nur zwei Testtage gehabt, aber Vesa wollte unbedingt noch einen dritten Testtag anhängen der nur für mich bestimmt war. Ihm war es wichtig, dass ich noch komfortabler auf dem Bike werde und noch einfacher schnell fahren kann ohne mehr Kraft zu brauchen.

Wir haben viele Sachen geändert, unter anderem die Sitzhöhe, Sitzlänge, Lenkerstummel, Hebel Positionen und den Rutsch Stopp. Am Ende des Tages hat es deutlich mehr gebracht als ich je gedacht hätte. Kurz vor Schluss hatte sich der Chef für eine erneute Time Attack entschieden und er hatte recht. Jede Mühe des dritten Testtages hat sich gelohnt, obwohl wir das Setup nicht geändert haben waren wir erneut eine halbe Sekunde schneller und ich bin meine erste 1,34min in Cartagena gefahren, welche sehr sehr nahe an dem All-Time-Laprecord von Krummenacher dran ist.

Ich bin sehr happy mit dem Test und kann es kaum erwarten in Estoril erneut zu testen. Das Team ist enorm motiviert und das ist genau was ich brauche! Bis bald! 😊

🇬🇧 From 13th to 15th of January our first team test has taken place in Cartagena. The team has choosen an event just for licence riders where a lot of motogp riders have taken part also. I have had a lot of free laps and managed to work on myself a lot as well, which was very important for me and the team too.

On the first day the weather was really cold and we waited for some sun. On 9 degrees asphalt we started the day. There have been some issues with the electronic where I had to stop a few times after one lap but the team figured that out very quick and we started with our test program. I had some big issues with rear tire grip because the tarmac was incredibly cold. We have been working on that the whole day but we haven’t found a perfect solution as the day was pretty short.

The second day was better, we have tried a few different shocks and settings which made it easier for me to go faster. It’s not so easy to put the power on the ground when its so cold and slippery. My team boss Vesa was watching every corner on the service road and gave me always a lot of advices. I changed my lines pretty much everywhere and it became better and better. Sometimes it was really hard to make him happy but he just wanted the best out of every situation and this is what I need. Someone who is putting some pressure and motivation with a lot of know how! After we have found a better solution for the grip, we started to work on the engine brake and clutch. We tried a different clutch setting where I was immediately happy with! In general the engine brake was really good and I was able to brake pretty long into the corner without loosing grip. At the end of the day I was able to set my fastest ever lap time around Cartagena even with that big lack of grip.

Normally we would have had just two test days but Vesa was asking for a third test day which was just for the rider feeling and about to get the rider more comfortable on the bike with less power on the “pedals”.

On the third day we were not changing anything on the setup. It was just for me and the riding position. We changed the handle bars, the seat, the seat pad, the slide stop, the brakes and the lever position a few times. On the end we found something really good and Vesa have been pretty motivated for a time attack on the soft tire to see the difference. AND INDEED! We have been half a second faster and I broke the first time in the 1,34s which was really really close to the all-time-laprecord of Krummenacher in the year where he became world champion.

I am really happy to have such a motivated team. Everyone in the team was working incredibly well and I enjoyed the time in Cartagena a lot! My crewchief Antti was absolutely working in the same way as I was and the most important is that he was open for everything and brought also some fun into the work. That’s pretty important to me as well because sometimes I get a bit too stiff and too hard on myself. The mechanics were absolutely onit and made not a single mistake even it was really really stressfull. Vesa brought a lot of positive comments about my lines and my riding which will make me a better rider in the future for sure. There is also a lot of “homework” to do when I jump on my training bike the next time! Can’t wait for the next tests to start! 😊
