🇩🇪 Am Wochenende fand das erste IDM Rennwochenende statt. Drei Wochen vorher hatten wir einen Test dort und ich konnte das aller erste Mal auf dem Sachsenring trainieren. Eine mega Strecke die jetzt definitiv zu meinen Lieblingsstrecken gehört. 

Die freien Trainings verliefen super und wir konnten bereits am Freitag alles abprüfen was wir an Ideen hatten. Die Pace war extrem konstant, das Einzige was für mich schwierig war, war eine richtig schnelle Runde. Ich habe mich seit der ersten Runde an auf dem Bike super wohl gefühlt und wusste direkt, dass wir sehr nah an dem dran sind, was wir fürs Rennen brauchen.

Im Quali am Samstag galt es eine schnelle Runde für die Startaufstellung zu fahren. Was eigentlich meine größte Schwierigkeit war. Dies gelang uns jedoch besser als erwartet und die Rundenzeit war ebenso deutlich schneller als erwartet. P5 im Grid war für mich super, denn ich wusste, dass meine Racepace deutlich besser war. 😉

Rennen 1: Mein Start war super und ich konnte direkt mit Florian Alt und dem dreifachen Deutschen Meister Ilya Mikhalchik mitziehen. Die Gruppe bestand aus genau vier Fahrern. Hannes Soomer der aus der Supersport WM ebenso auf Honda in der IDM fährt, ließ auch nicht locker. Das Rennen bin ich bis zwei Runden vor Schluss auf dem zweiten Platz gefahren, direkt hinter Ilya. Leider ist mir etwas passiert, von dem ich mir sicher war, dass es mir nicht passieren wird. Mein Reifen hatte extrem viel Spin, komplett unerwartet in den letzten zwei Runden. Somit hatte ich so gut wie keine Leistung mehr im vierten Gang und musste in der Letzten Runde das Podest nach einem starken Zweikampf abgeben. Ich war dennoch zufrieden, als die Emotionen ein wenig nachließen, denn ein Podium wäre ein absoluter Traum gewesen! 🙏🏼

Rennen 2: Durch das „reversed Grid“ stand ich auf Pole Position. Wir hatten uns nach dem ersten Rennen die Daten angeschaut und Kleinigkeiten verbessert, damit wir mit den Reifen zwei Runden mehr schaffen. Mein Start war ok, ich kam auf P2 durch die erste Runde und konnte dann zwei bis drei Runden das Rennen anführen. Hinter Florian Alt begann ich dann den Reifen zu schonen und fuhr das ganze Rennen in einer Dreiergruppe bis zum Schluss. In der letzten Runde kam wie erwartet der Angriff von Hannes Soomer, den ich zwei Mal abwehren konnte, da wir mit den Reifen deutlich besser zurechtkamen. In der letzten Kurve gab es zwischen Hannes und mir dann die Berührung bei der ich mir den zweiten Platz zurückgeholt habe. ENDLICH EIN PODIUM!! 

Was für ein Wochenende. Kann es immer noch nicht glauben. Die Jungs von GERT56 haben extrem gut gearbeitet, ich fühlte mich von Anfang an wie Zuhause. Eine Weltklasse Truppe wo auch der Spaß nicht zu kurz kommt. Karsten Wolf ging im Winter bereits über seine Versprechungen hinaus und hat mir deutlich mehr geholfen als er eigentlich konnte. Somit ist ein top Ergebnis wie jetzt am Sachsenring einfach eine perfekte Belohnung fürs Team. Tausend Dank ebenso an alle Sponsoren, alle Unterstützer und Fans die mir es möglich machen meinen Traum zum Beruf zu machen und immer an mich geglaubt haben.

Ebenso vielen Dank an die ganzen Kritiker und diejenigen die nicht hinter mir standen nach dem letzten Jahr, eure Negativität war meine Motivation mir jeden einzelnen Tag seit Ende meiner WM Saison 2022 den „Arsch aufzureißen“. Es fühlt sich an als hätte ich mein Leben wieder zurück, fit zu sein, Konkurrenzfähig zu sein und Spaß zu haben, war das was ich vermisst habe. Danke an Karsten Wolf, der mich eine Zehntelsekunde vor meinem Karriere Ende überzeugt hat, weiterzumachen! DANKE an ALLE!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼💪🏼

🇬🇧 On the weekend the first IDM race weekend took place. We had a test there three weeks earlier and I was able to train at the Sachsenring for the very first time. A mega circuit that is now definitely one of my favorite ones.

The free practice sessions went really well and on Friday we were able to test everything we had in terms of ideas. The pace was extremely constant, the only thing that was difficult for me was a really fast lap. I felt super comfortable on the bike from the first lap and knew right away that we were very close to what we needed for the race.

In qualifying on Saturday, a single fast lap was important for the starting grid. Which was actually my biggest difficulty. However, we managed this better than expected and the lap time was also significantly faster than expected. P5 on the grid was great for me because I knew my race pace was much better. 😉

Race 1: My start was great and I was able to keep up with Florian Alt and the three-time German champion Ilya Mikhalchik. The group consisted of exactly four riders. Hannes Soomer, who also rides a Honda in the IDM from the Supersport World Championship, didn’t give up either. I was in second place until two laps before the end, right behind Ilya. Unfortunately, something happened to me that I was sure wouldn’t happen. My tire had a lot of spin, totally unexpected in the last two laps. As a result, I had almost no power in fourth gear and had to give up the podium in the last lap after a strong fight. I was still satisfied when the emotions subsided a bit because a podium would have been an absolute dream! 🙏🏼

Race 2: Thanks to the reversed grid, I was on pole position. After the first race we looked at the data and made minor improvements so that we could do two more laps with the tires. My start was ok, I got through the first lap on P2 and was then able to lead the race for two to three laps. Behind Florian Alt I then started to take it easy on the tires and rode the entire race in a group of three to the end. As expected, Hannes Soomer attacked on the last lap, which I was able to fend off twice because we were able to handle the tires much better. In the last corner, Hannes and I touched and I got back second place. FINALLY A PODIUM!!

What a weekend. Still can’t believe it. The guys from GERT56 did an extremely good job, I felt at home right from the start. A world-class group where fun is not neglected. Karsten Wolf already went beyond his promises in winter and helped me a lot more than he actually could. So a top result like now at the Sachsenring is simply a perfect reward for the team. A thousand thanks also to all sponsors, all supporters and fans who make it possible for me to turn my dream into a job and who always believed in me.

Also thanks to all the critics and those who didn’t have my back after last year, your negativity has been my motivation to „bust my ass“ every single day since the end of my 2022 Worlds season. Feels like I have my life back, being fit, being competitive and having fun is what I’ve been missing.
