🇩🇪 Am Wochenende fand der fünfte Lauf der IDM Superbike am Redbull Ring statt. Eine meiner Lieblingsstrecken, auf denen ich ebenso trainieren war und extrem gute Test-Ergebnisse erzielen konnte. Somit war meine Vorfreude auf diese Strecke enorm groß.

Am Freitag hatte es den ganzen Tag über sehr viel geregnet. Alle drei freien Trainings fanden im Regen statt. Für mich war es das erste mal mit dem Superbike im Regen. Somit war dies nicht ganz so einfach, jedoch konnten wir uns permanent steigern. Jede Session wurde besser und besser. 👍🏼

Am Samstag fanden beide Qualis statt. Der Regen war noch stärker geworden und einige Flussgebiete in Österreich waren bereits überschwemmt. Wir hatten mit stehendem Wasser und leichten Bächen über die Strecke zu kämpfen. Im ersten Quali konnte ich den 12. Platz belegen, was ein gutes Ergebnis für den Regen war. Im Q2 hatte ich einen Fehler über einen Wasserlauf gemacht der über die Strecke ging und konnte mich nicht mehr verbessern. Somit ging es von P14 nach dem kombinierten Quali ins erste Rennen.

Im Warmup konnte ich mich erneut verbessern, auch dies war komplett nass. Die Routine kam Stück für Stück. 🙌🏼

Rennen 1. Mein Start war gut und ich konnte mich direkt auf P11 vorarbeiten. Mein Ziel war es in die Top 9 zu kommen und mir das reversed Grid zu nutze zu machen. Die Strecke hatte etwas abgetrocknet im ersten Sektor, es war extrem wichtig die Regenreifen nicht kaputt zu fahren. Dies gelang mir relativ gut und ich konnte am Ende den 9. Platz belegen und noch meinen Meisterschaftsgegner Soomer, der mein engster Rivale aktuell ist, zu schlagen. Dies war mehr als perfekt und ich konnte einige Punkte in der Meisterschaft gutmachen. Ohne die beiden WM Fahrer, die einen Gaststart machten, ist das Ergebnis P7 und Punkte bekomme ich ebenso für P7.

Rennen 2. In der Sighting Lap am Weg ins Grid mussten wir feststellen, dass ich einen technischen Defekt hatte. Das Problem war leider zu groß um es in der Startaufstellung zu bewältigen. Somit war klar, ich musste so starten und irgendwie eine Hand voll Punkte für die Meisterschaft retten. Es war endlich trocken und ich wollte meine super Pace vom Test ausspielen. Es war aber bereits im Grid klar, dass dies nicht möglich sein wird. Mein Start war ok, ein heftiger Kontakt in Kurve 1 war ein Problem für einige Fahrer. Jedoch konnte ich direkt die Lücke schließen und war in der Führungsgruppe. Das Motorrad war durch die technischen Probleme speziell beim Bremsen unfahrbar. Ich habe alles versucht um irgendwie das Problem zu umfahren aber es war einfach nicht möglich. Den 5. Platz konnte ich ins Ziel retten, trotz dieses Problemes. Für mich wäre das Rennen definitiv eine einwandfreie Sache geworden, dennoch sollte es irgendwie nicht sein. Dies lohnt definitiv nicht meine ganze Mühe, den Einsatz vom Team, das ganze Herzblut und den Aufwand der darin steckt. Für mich war es ein sehr hartes Stück. Punkte habe ich für das Podium bekommen, denn ohne die zwei WM Gaststarter bin ich dritter geworden. Somit habe ich trotzdem einen Platz in der Meisterschaft gut gemacht und konnte mich voran arbeiten auf den vierten Platz der Wertung. Der Rückstand auf P2 der IDM SBK in der Tabelle ist 10 Punkte und somit noch sehr realistisch in Reichweite.

Für uns geht es in zwei Wochen nach Assen, dort werden wir alles daran setzen zurückzuschlagen und uns den nächsten Schwung Punkte zu holen. Die zwei Wochen bis dahin werden ein hartes Stück sein. Bis dahin, volle ATTACKE! 💪🏼💪🏼

🇬🇧 The fifth round of the IDM Superbike took place at the Redbull Ring at the weekend. One of my favorite circuits, on which I also trained and was able to achieve extremely good test results. 

It rained a lot all day on Friday. All three free practice sessions took place in the rain. For me it was the first time with the Superbike in the rain. So it wasn’t that easy, but we were able to improve permanently. Every session got better and better. 👍🏼

Both qualifications took place on Saturday. The rain had become even heavier and some river areas in Austria were already flooded. We struggled with standing water and slight streams along the track. In the first qualification I was able to place 12th, which was a good result for the rain. In Q2 I made a mistake over a stream that crossed the track and couldn’t improve anymore. So I started the first race from P14 after the combined qualification.

I was able to improve again in the warm-up, which was also completely wet. The routine came little by little. 🙌🏼

Race 1. My start was good and I was able to work my way straight up to P11. My goal was to get in the top 9 and take advantage of the reversed grid. The track had dried a bit in the first sector, it was extremely important not to damage the rain tires. I managed this relatively well and in the end, I was able to finish 9th and still beat my championship opponent Soomer, who is currently my closest rival. This was more than perfect and I was able to make up a few points in the championship. Without the two World Championship riders who made a guest start, the result is P7 and I also get points for P7.

Race 2. In the sighting lap on the way to the grid we had to realize that I had a technical issue. Unfortunately, the problem was too big to deal with on the starting grid. So it was clear that I had to start like this and somehow save a handful of points for the championship. It was finally dry and I wanted to use my great pace from the test. However, it was already clear in the grid that this would not be possible. My start was ok, a heavy contact at Turn 1 was a problem for some riders. However, I was able to close the gap directly and was in the leading group. The motorcycle was unrideable due to the technical problems, especially when braking. I’ve tried everything to somehow circumvent the problem but it just wasn’t possible. I was able to save the 5th place, despite this problem. For me, the race would definitely have been a flawless thing, but somehow it wasn’t supposed to be. This is definitely not worth all my effort, the commitment of the team, all the heart and soul and the effort that goes into it. It was a very tough piece for me. I got points for the podium because I finished third without the two World Championship guest starters. So I still made up a place in the championship and was able to work my way up to fourth place in the ranking. The gap to P2 of the IDM SBK in the table is 10 points and therefore still very realistically within reach.

We’re going to Assen in two weeks, where we’ll do everything we can to fight back and get the next momentum of points. The two weeks until then will be a tough one. Until then, full ATTACK! 💪🏼💪🏼
